Matt Barber Head Coach

Matt Barber joined Ford Aquatics in August 2018 working alongside Coach Austin. Before moving to Tucson, Coach Matt grew up in Houston, Texas where he started swimming at a very young age. During his swim career in Texas, he was a multiple state champion specializing in freestyle and butterfly events. He also competed on a number of different junior national teams including the 2008 World Youth Team; 2009 Jr. Pan Pacific Team; 2009-2010 National Youth Team; and 2010 NCSA All-Star team in Dublin, Ireland.

After high school Coach Matt attended and swam collegiately at the University of Arizona where he majored in Business Management with a minor in Sustainable Built Environments. During his collegiate career Coach Matt was an NCAA qualifier all four years and a three-time All-American. He also competed at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia. While at the University of Arizona, Coach Matt qualified for the second time (2008) Olympic Trials during the 2012 Olympic year. 

When Coach Matt is not working or coaching, he enjoys the outdoors, watching NFL Football, and spending time with his family & dogs. Coach Matt is eager to pass down his knowledge of the sport to the hard working and passionate kids at Ford

Seth Miller Senior Coach

Seth Miller joined Ford Aquatics in 2023. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Seth started his swimming career at 8 years old. Through age-group swimming Seth accomplished multiple team records, Illinois State Championships, and received invitations for national select camps. Seth swam for his high school varsity swim team all four years and was named captain his junior and senior year. Through his high school career, Seth became a multiple-time state qualifier and team record holder. Seth went on to win a state championship in the 100 butterfly his senior year, becoming an Illinois Academic and Athletic All-American.

After graduating from high school, Seth committed to the University of Iowa. After only one year, Seth achieved multiple Top-10 swims in the history of the program and was a part of the 200-medley relay school record squad. Once transferring to the University of Arizona, Seth immediately achieved Top-10 swims in program history and is a member of the 200-freestyle and 200 medley school record relays. Seth holds the second-fastest 50 butterfly relay split in program history and is a eight-time NCAA relay qualifier. Seth was named a CSCAA All-American, achieved the NCAA Honorable All-American status, and became a NCAA First Team Academic All American during his collegiate career. 

Seth’s strong passion for swimming along with his expertise allowed him to travel internationally as a Specialist Swim Consultant for the “UKS Kapry Armexim Pruszkow Sports Club” in Warsaw, Poland, where he coached junior national swimmers going into their National Championships. Seth is very active in the Arizona swimming community as he has coached Team Arizona at the Western Zone Age Group Championships over the last few years. Seth’s drive for the sport of swimming allows him to care deeply for his athletes’ performances and development at any level.

Hannah Mattson Assistant Age Group Coach

Hannah Mattson joins us from Auburn University where she competed for four years and was team captain as a senior. She has spent many summers coaching competitive age group swimmers on her home club team back in Georgia. She enjoys motivating young kids and growing their love for the sport! In her free time, she loves to keep up with Auburn Athletics, spending time with family and fiends, and taking her dog for a swim.

Paige Martin Team Administration

Paige Martin is originally from Phoenix, Arizona and has been swimming competitively since she was 8, when she started swimming with Sun Devil Aquatics. Paige swam competitively for her high school’s varsity team all 4 years that she attended, Mesa Aquatics Club and later, Scottsdale Aquatics Club until she moved to Tucson after high school graduation.

Paige has been coaching with ford since January of 2018 and has assisted with all groups at the Age Group level, ranging from the bronze and developmental groups to Silver, Gold and Elite. She is currently studying biochemistry, physiology, and math at the University of Arizona, and plans to pursue a career in the medical field after she graduates.
